How to read your result

A hedge can reduce the difference between outcomes, but it can also lock in a loss. Compare both net outcomes before interpreting the result. The hedge amount requires additional funds.

A $100 original stake at +200, hedged at −150, needs a $180 opposite-side stake. The net result is $20 whichever side wins, assuming both bets settle as expected.

Formula and assumptions

Hedge stake = original stake × original decimal odds ÷ hedge decimal odds. If the original wins: net = original stake × (original decimal odds − 1) − hedge stake. If the hedge wins: net = hedge stake × (hedge decimal odds − 1) − original stake. Uses two mutually exclusive, exhaustive outcomes with matching settlement rules. Both outcomes use the hedge stake rounded to cents; taxes, fees, pushes and voids are excluded.
